Overview
The goal of this program is to prepare pharmacists for a career in healthcare quality improvement, medication safety, and population health by providing the opportunity to gain important skills and knowledge in this area. Within the program, the fellow will focus on medication safety, quality, pharmacy regulation and quality improvement.

Training Site
The fellow will work for UF Health Physicians outpatient practices as well as the UF College of Pharmacy in Gainesville, FL, USA.
Opportunities for Professional Development
- Evaluate literature in medication safety and healthcare quality
- Lead the Clinical Safety Committee and serve on the Quality & Safety team
- Provide vital medication information and safety perspectives to clinical personnel
- Oversee medication and vaccine use at UF Health outpatient practices alongside a licensed consultant pharmacist
- Develop an understanding of data science and programming to conduct outcomes research
- Conduct and evaluate quality improvement projects
- Assess billing and electronic health record data for quality improvement purposes
- Complete a Teaching Certificate from the University of Florida
- Complete Certificate in one of the following programs: Applied Pharmacoeconimics, Pharmaceutical Regulation, Managed Care Pharmacy Systems, or Pharmaceutical Value Assessment and Communications
- Serve as a Teaching Assistant and lead topic discussions in the Pharm.D. curricula
- Conduct inspections of a variety of UF Health clinics in primary and specialty care
- Provide clinical and regulatory guidance to other healthcare professionals regarding the use of medications
Application Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited institution
- Florida Pharmacist license in good standing; or eligibility for such licensure
